The high-grade Cherry Hill mine is fully permitted for gold production and consists of a high grade underground quartz lode mine with a 750 ton per month gravity circuit mill and all machinery and equipment in place. The Property covers approximately 125 acres in the Klamath National Forest, Siskiyou County, California, approximately eight miles from Yreka.
High Grades in Past Production
A substantial amount of development work has been completed on the site. In January 2009, Robert L. Hill, CA Reg. Geologist #3386, provided an assessment report on the property. His work included historical production data from the California State Mining Bureau , Jan. 1925, which stated: "continuous production along veins with repeated ore grades of 1 ounce gold per ton" (32g/t Au)." Historical production results from the California Journal of Mines and Geology reported recoveries from the Property at 2.4 ounces gold per ton (76.80 g/t Au).
Current Work
An experienced mine crew, some of which worked previously at the mine, is re-opening the five portals at Cherry Hill and rehabilitating the workings so the mine can be brought to Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) standards in anticipation of production. Silver Sun will now file a Notice of Commencement of Work with the US Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) to begin production as soon as possible.
The Queen Vein
The Cherry Hill mine is centered on the Queen Vein, which has a known strike length of 1200 feet. The eastern portion of the vein has been mined out above level 3 (4450 feet) but remains open to depth. The Company will start mining from the existing two-year old workings that access the Queen Vein from the west on level 4 (4360 feet) where ore has been blocked out between the 3rd and 4th levels.
Permitting and Mine Expansion
In May 2011, the company received approval from the United States Forest Service (USFS) to continue with the current Plan of Operations. The plan is valid until the year 2015 using permits and licenses currently in place. Once production resumes at Cherry Hill, Silver Sun plans to apply to the USFS to broaden the Plan of Operations at Cherry Hill to include the entire property for which a full Environmental Assessment will be required.
Mine Safety
Silver Sun has also received confirmation from Mojave Desert Minerals, LLC, stationed in Oatman Arizona, that they will serve as the Company's primary Underground Mine Rescue team for the Cherry Hill Gold Mine in Yreka, California. Further, the Company is in receipt of confirmation from the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Department (Search and Rescue Team) of their assistance in the event of an emergency.
